Sophos Central Endpoint: migration of endpoint management from UTM to Central

This blog article describes how to migrate Sophos UTM-managed endpoints to Sophos Central.

Applies to the following Sophos products and versions

UTM managed endpoint
Central endpoint

Note: This does not apply to Sophos Home, Sophos UTM Home or evaluation licenses.

What to do

1. Create a 30-day trial account for Sophos Central.
2. Log in to Sophos Central Admin.
3. Under Overview, clickProtect Devices.
4. Click Download full Windows installer.
5. Log in to your Sophos UTM.
6. Follow the steps in KBA 119175 to disable tamper protection of managed endpoints.
7. Run the previously downloaded installer on the UTM managed endpoints to be migrated to Sophos Central.

Note: If a component of Sophos Central Endpoint fails to install, see the troubleshooting steps at KBA 125467.

Contact Kundendienst and provide them with your Sophos UTM licence ID.

Hints:

• Customer Service will provide you with a Sophos Central license key that corresponds to your Sophos UTM Endpoint Protection license.
• The licence to be provided will convert your Sophos Central from trial to full version. The steps to apply the licence are given in KBA 120988.
• Server protection must be licensed separately through Sophos Central.
