New firewalls from Fortinet
Fortinet
Fortinet has released the FortiGate/Wifi-60E-DSLJ, a variant of the already known FortiGate/Wifi-60E DSL. The FG/FWF60E-DSLJ is identical in construction to the previous FG/FWF-60E-DSL, but now supports the Annex J standard. In Germany, either Annex J or Annex B is used, as the case may be. The new FortiGate/FortiWifi-60E-DSLJ supports both standards This means that it is no longer necessary to purchase a separate ADSL or VDSL modem when buying a FortiGate/FortiWifi 60E.
New firewalls include the FortiGate 600/601E, which are optically identical to the 500/501E, but achieve significantly higher throughput rates thanks to a better processor and an additional CP9 co-processor. For example, the IPS and NGFW throughput increases to almost double.
The FortiGate 600E series achieves a threat protection throughput of 7 Gbit/s and 8 Gbit/s SSL inspection with various 1G and 10G interfaces, enabling flexible deployment in a wide range of deployment scenarios.
In the high-end segment, Fortinet now also offers the 3400/3401E and 3600/3601E series. The new features include intent-based segmentation. Intent-Based Segmentation provides organisations with granular access control, continuous trust assessment, end-to-end visibility and automated threat protection.
The FortiGate 3400/3401E Series offers threat protection throughput of 23 Gbps and SSL inspection performance of 30 Gbps. Combined with high-performance 10G, 40G and 100G interfaces, the FortiGate 3400E Series meets the needs of a wide range of applications by providing flexibility connectivity of internal and external links. In doing so, complexity is reduced to increase operational efficiency.
The FortiGate 3600/2601E Series offers threat protection throughput of 30 Gbps and SSL inspection performance of 34 Gbps. High-performance 10G, 40G and 100G interfaces meet the needs of a wide range of deployments. Fortinet's FortiGate next-generation firewalls offer some of the industry's highest SSL inspection performance and throughput for threat protection.
Another change involves Fortinet's licensing model. All new devices, including the FortiGate/Wifi-60E-DSLJ will no longer have the option for 8x5 support with the UTM and Enterprise bundles. Only 24x7 support will then be available, with an option to upgrade to 360° support.

Marcel Zimmer is the Technical Managing Director of EnBITCon. During his time in the German Armed Forces, the trained IT developer was able to gain numerous project experiences. His interest in IT security was significantly awakened by his service in command support. Even after his service, he is an active reservist in the Bundeswehr.
His first firewall was a Sophos UTM 120, which he had to set up for a customer project. Since then, his interest in IT security has grown steadily. In the course of time, various security and infrastructure topics have come into his focus. His most interesting projects included, for example, WLAN coverage in an explosion-proof area, as well as a multi-site WLAN solution for a large
