Greenbone - Greenbone Cloud Infrastructure moves to Germany
Greenbone
After the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) overturned a data-sharing agreement between Europe and the Union, this has had wide repercussions.
In short, data of European users is not protected from access by US intelligence agencies. Since it cannot be ensured that this data is collected and processed in compliance with the GDPR, Greenbone has decided to move the Greenbone Cloud completely to Germany. This ensures that all data is handled and processed in a DSGVO-compliant manner.
Although the data was already in the EU, it was used on Microsoft Azure Cloud servers. With the end of the so-called Privacy Shield agreement, the security and data protection via Azure could no longer be guaranteed.
Therefore, Greenbone transferred all data to a German cloud provider. This provider is ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and PCI DSS certified.
Elmar Geese, COO at Greenbone, said that Greenbone's top priority is to ensure maximum security for its customers. In addition, he further emphasised that sensitive data from customer networks is processed on the Greenbone system, which is particularly worth protecting for compliance and data protection reasons. With the move, Greenbone can guarantee the highest level of data protection and legal security. Greenbone is completely subject to the European DSGVO, as all systems are now hosted and managed by a German provider.
This also allows Greenbone to counteract the uncertainty that many companies have had since the ECJ declared the Privacy Shield invalid.
Greenbone has also been offering the vulnerability management solution as a cloud service for a year, in addition to the physical and virtual appliances. This means that small companies, or companies with many branch offices, can also use a cost-effective and well-scalable vulnerability management solution. There are generally only a few providers in the segment that offer a cloud solution, but only Greenbone does so 100% DSGVO compliant, even in the cloud.
