Fortinet - Update Q2 2020
The Fortinet UTM Bundle is now called UTP Bundle
Long known as Unified Threat Management (UTM), the licence bundle for FortiGate Allround Protection has now been renamed Unified Threat Protection (UTP). This ensures a catchy naming convention for the other FortiGate licence bundles (Advanced Threat Protection, Enterprise Protection). The scope of the UTP bundle has not changed.
The Fortinet UTP licence bundle still includes the services Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Application Control, Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), Web Filtering, Mobile Security as well as the FortiSandbox Cloud Service and 24x7 FortiCare Support. A detailed description of all functions and services of the UTP licence bundle is available in our shop.
Fortinet Threat Protection has been enhanced and is now called Advanced Threat Protection.
Launched in 2018, the Threat Protection licence bundle was introduced as the basic protection for FortiGates and includes anti-virus, application control, intrusion prevention system (IPS) and 24x7 FortiCare Support. Now the bundle has been renamed Advanced Threat Protection and expanded to include the FortiSandbox Cloud Service. The FortiSandbox service, which for a long time was only available as a single licence or in the FortiGate Enterprise Protection licence bundle, offers the same fast detection and automatic response to threats as a physical sandbox solution. Through its cloud infrastructure, this service offers unmatched flexibility and scalability and is the perfect complement to entry-level and mid-range FortiGates.
The two main features of FortiSandbox are the so-called Virus Outbreak Protection and the Content Disarm & Reconstruct Service. Virus Outbreak Protection closes the gap between anti-virus updates by analysing and stopping suspicious files in the cloud, even if they are not yet known to the FortiGate as a threat. This allows zero-day attacks to be effectively stopped and networks to be effectively protected between anti-virus updates.
Content Disarm and Reconstruct is particularly useful for infected Word, Excel or PDF files. Here, any malicious macros or macros that violate firewall policies are proactively removed before the file is sent to the end user. Malicious macros are a popular way for cybercriminals to infect a network by running the file from unwary users. With the Content Disarm and Reconstruct service, this risk can be minimised.
