Fortinet - The new FortiAP 231F offers WiFi 6 for little money
Fortinet
Fortinet has launched a new access point for the entry-level segment with the new quarter. The FortiAP-231F. This access point offers a high throughput with up to 1,200 megabits per second at 5 GHz and 574 megabits at 2.4 GHz.
Thanks to a third radio, it can also simultaneously scan for so-called rogue APs to be PCI-DSS compliant. This is particularly important in shops where card payments are made via the WLAN. Otherwise, payment information could be intercepted.
The integrated Bluetooth radio can then be used for IoT tasks, for example asset tracking.
With the support of WPA3 as encryption, the access point can also provide a secure WLAN in the future. Of course, WPA2 can also be used at the same time so that devices that are not yet WPA3-capable can still gain access to the WLAN.
The FortiAP 231F has two RJ45 interfaces via which the access point can be operated with PoE+. The manufacturer specifies a maximum consumption of 17 watts. It can be mounted on the ceiling, walls or T-rails, whereby ceiling mounting is recommended.
The access point can also be flexibly managed and deployed. Be it via a FortiGate firewall, via the FortiCloud cloud solution, or as a single access point without a controller.
