Fortinet Hardware - What's New in Q3 2019
Fortinet
With the new devices, Fortinet continues its speed offensive for the network ports.
As with the FortiGate 100F, the new FortiGate 1100E/1101E now offers not only high firewall throughput rates, but also a selection of network interfaces that leave hardly anything to be desired.
- 2 x 40 Gigabit QSFP+
- 4 x 25 Gigabit SFP28 / 10 Gigabit SFP+
- 4 x 10 Gigabit SFP+
- 8 x 1 Gigabit SFP
- 16 x 1 Gigabit RJ45
Thanks to the hardware acceleration provided by NP6 and CP9 SoCs, traffic can be processed without burdening the FortiGate's main processor. This division of labour allows the firewall to generate throughput of up to 80 gigabits and can be easily deployed as both an edge and segmentation firewall in large networks and data centres.
The FortiGate 1100E/1101E also offers significant improvements in VPN compared to its predecessor, with an IPsec VPN throughput of up to 48 gigabits and an SSL VPN throughput of up to 8.4 gigabits. This means that nothing stands in the way of the secure connection of external devices.
The FortiGate 1101E has two additional 480GB SSD hard disks, otherwise both units are identical.
In addition to the FortiGate, the new FortiSwitch M426-FPOE was also added. This offers network ports even for demanding PoE environments:
- 2 x 10 Gigabit SFP+
- 2 x 5 Gigabit RJ45
- 8 x 2.5 Gigabit RJ45 with Ultra-PoE (up to 60 Watt)
- 16 x 1 Gigabit RJ45
The PoE budget of the M426-FPOE is 421 watts. This allows you to supply all 26 RJ45 ports with PoE (up to 15 watts). This makes the switch ideal for WLAN networks and other PoE-capable devices.
